My name is Brian, I am a 42 yr old graphic designer and father of 5. One of my sons has Asperger Syndrome. I made this site as part of my Words and Images class and also to reflect my artistic and creative juices. I have always been facinated by teh war between the states, I found out through the years that it is in fact the victors who write history and in doing so we have missed out on an entire generation of American patriots who fought and died for the Confederacy... I have found out that Lincoln is not the great man we grew up being taught and the transgressions commited by the federal government during that war are shocking. I encourage everyone to read and read and read some more... do your own research it will amaze you what you find...
The page is dedicated to my late Smoofy who was killed early in 2010. She was my constant companion and friend. I miss her dearly
You know it is funny but every country was guilty of racial stereotyping...
The Japanese for example used images of American's as hairy Gorilla looking creatures with big teeth that would eat you. The people of Okinawa had never seen an American before and with the images and stories many killed themselves by jumping off cliffs with their children rather than be captured or surrender.
So before we pass judgement on our country remember it was a different time period for everyone... Not to mention the atrocities that were commited both by Germany and Japan far outweigh any image portrayed by America during that time period.
I know it was a long time ago, but I still can't believe how, for lack of better term, racist people got during WWII.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love vintage posters, these definitely portray an entirely different time...and ideas that are rather embarrassing for our country...
